Ellen P. Lubensky, Esq.

Ellen P. Lubensky, Esq. is an attorney, speaker, and advocate whose life was transformed by a wrongful psychiatric diagnosis that led to nearly three decades of unnecessary medication and physical decline.

Ellen is the Founder of The Mental Health Choice Project, an organization dedicated to advancing informed consent and patient choice in mental healthcare. Her legal career includes serving as a Staff Attorney at Legal Services of New Jersey, clerking for Chief Justice Stuart Rabner of the New Jersey Supreme Court, and practicing medical malpractice defense and appellate advocacy.

A graduate of Stanford University (B.A. Psychology, with Distinction and Departmental Honors), the University of Pennsylvania (M.S. in Education), and Rutgers Law School (J.D. with High Honors, Lead Articles Editor of the Rutgers Law Journal), Ellen brings both intellectual rigor and deeply personal experience to her advocacy work.

After discovering the truth about her misdiagnosis, Ellen made the brave decision to carefully taper off the medications that had been harming her for decades. She has been tapering for 4 years, with approximately two more years remaining in her journey.

Alongside her tapering process, Ellen embraced holistic approaches to healing, which have become a cornerstone of her recovery. Today, she speaks publicly to raise awareness about psychiatric misdiagnosis, medication harm, patient advocacy, and the hope of recovery.
